It is origional Ardennes and for 2011 is upgraded with a carbon front hub and a new rear wheel lacing pattern to enhance power transmission and lateral stiffness. The SL utilises the same high performance scandium C2 rim as its big brother the Ardennes Flamme Rouge. C2 is the name of the rim we developed after looking at the standard aluminium clinchers that other manufacturers were turning out. The HED C2 rim is not just lighter and stiffer - crucially it's wider too. The HED C2 rim is designed for a 23mm tyre, the most popular size, but most other manufacturer's rims are 19mm wide, making the sidewalls of a 23mm tyre flop under hard corning due to the lack of stability at the rim. The HED C2 rim not only improves cornering performance because of the extra width, but its air volume is effectively increased, meaning it can be run at a lower pressure for better vibration absorption and more speed.
